I decided by the end of 2008 that it was time to try drawing a person again. I’ve been practicing with horses and have noticed a very visible improvement. So at the beginning of the year, I pulled out my pencils and sketch book in order to attempt my most challenging subject yet.

She can’t rightly be called a person, for she’s an elf—but I am extremely pleased with the results.

I have so many newly-finished projects to blog about! It’s a bit overwhelming, so I’ll think I’ll do this a little at a time.

Back toward the end of July, I wanted a little change of pace and consequently decided to paint. What I did was a mimic of an excellent painting by Weirs—and I can assure you that my version can’t hold a candle to the original. But I’m pleased with the way it turned out, and not allowing myself to get uptight and perfectionistic about it really made it more fun. I was bold with that paintbrush!
